About Jordaan

Jordaan is Amsterdam's most iconic residential quarter, a 17th-century former working-class neighborhood within the UNESCO-listed canal belt, now one of the city's most picturesque and expensive districts. The narrow streets, gabled houses, hidden hofjes (courtyard gardens), brown cafes, and Anne Frank House give Jordaan its archetypal Amsterdam character. Residential prices command EUR 9,500-14,500 per square metre with gross yields of 3.5-4.5%. The market is dominated by canal-house apartments and renovated walk-ups, with very limited new supply within the protected UNESCO zone. Lifestyle is intimate and walkable: dozens of small galleries, independent boutiques, traditional brown cafes (cafe bruin), and exceptional canal-side restaurants. Strong transit via trams 3, 13, 14, and proximity to Centraal Station.
