About Saint-Michel

Clustered around the UNESCO-listed Basilique Saint-Michel and its soaring 114 m detached spire, Saint-Michel is the most cosmopolitan and affordable of central Bordeaux's quarters. Its squares host a famous Sunday flea market, and the nearby Marché des Capucins, 'the belly of Bordeaux', is the city's great food market, beloved for Sunday-morning oysters and white wine. Diverse, lively and a little gritty, the quarter draws students, immigrant communities and value-minded buyers, and is steadily gentrifying. Small flats let strongly (studios fetch the city's highest per-m² rents), and Tram Line C plus the closest access to Gare Saint-Jean keep it tightly connected, making it the strongest rental-yield play among the central quarters.
